Introducing kids to the art of vegetable gardening
An illustrated book to introduce kids to the art of vegetable gardening The mission: to produce an illustrated educational mini-book featuring little Eneko discovering the vegetables in the garden, pollinators, and the small organisms that inhabit the earth. The challenges: vary the framing with cutaways and close-ups to illustrate essential details. The style: gentle, colourful illustrations combining stylised realism and playful touches, emphasizing natural details and a warm, childlike atmosphere. Do you also have an upcoming printed project? I created a mascot for a magazine and I loved it !
I created a mascot for a kids magazine, and I loved it! I had the immense pleasure to create a rhino mascot in 5 different poses for the Zambian children’s magazine Kalata, produced by the wildlife education and environmental conservation fund Chipembele. I think the founder of the fund, Anna Tolan, was pretty please with our collaboration : “Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust is a conservation education organisation that operates close to South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. Chipembele means rhino in the local language. We were developing a children’s magazine for the first time in the organisation’s 23 year history and needed a mascot for it. Of course we chose a rhino, and decided to call it Chippy. The rest was up to Alice. She responded immediately to our basic ideas and was a joy to work with in developing the drafts of six cartoon young rhino figures in different postures. We were very happy with the completed work which was perfectly suited to the young audience we will be targeting. I would highly recommend her for her creative work.” Do you also need illustrations for our younger ones ? Feel free to reach out!
